100% Green Energy

Good Energy’s mission is to provide solutions to climate change. At Good Energy Generation we support that mission by sourcing 100% of the power we supply from renewable sources and we go the extra mile to make sure that our electricity is deep green.

Environmentally responsible

Some forms of renewable energy still have an environmental impact that we do not think is acceptable. To ensure that the sites from which we source electricity do not compromise our environment unnecessarily, we research their environmental credentials. In the instances of wind and hydro generators we will evaluate sites that may interrupt the migratory path of bird or fish species, damage rare habitats or threaten the existence of rare species. If we conclude that the local ecology is unacceptably compromised, we will not source power from the site.

We will also apply these guidelines when we are developing our own renewable energy projects. Read our environmental procurement policy.

Sustainable Biogeneration

Biogeneration harnesses the energy from organic material and converts it into heat and electrical energy. If managed properly, biogeneration is a ‘carbon neutral’ form of energy generation as the entire process returns to the atmosphere a similar amount of carbon that the fuel (trees, energy crops) absorbed. However if biofuels are not managed in a sustainable way they can cause considerable environmental damage.

This is why we have developed a biogeneration procurement policy. Our policy defines what we believe is sustainable when it comes to sourcing and transporting biofuels and producing biogeneration. To assess a biogenerators sustainability, we require them to complete an application and based on the information they provide, we decide if we can work with them. Read more about biogeneration.
